There is only one jar of honey left in the camp and with winter coming the outlaws will need to learn beekeeping. Friar Tuck is making a pilgrimage to Canterbury but Canterbury is in Kent a place known for its honey so Robin decides to join him. On the way reaches a town where a witch hunt is on. Robins interference creates an even greater sticky situation than running out of honey. With some witchery Robin can finally get back to the sherwood forest where he can only worry about getting honey.
A lack of honey and a friars pilgrimage creates the motivations within this episode. They both come across a village in distress to find a one Count Deprez on a witchhunt. However this witchhunt is merely a part of a power struggle between Lady Margaret and Deprez. Robin is now victim to this and is placed behind steel bars in the jail but for how long. Not the most elegant of episodes as the story somehow became too complicated and the performances show some drag amongst the actors.
A cart of wine is taken from the sheriff’s men by Robin Hood and Little John. The wine is normally a big take but learning of a visit by Prince John becomes an even more important take. Big mouthed soldiers are escorting a collection of jewels through the forest, which is bound to be ambushed by the Outlaws. The jewels the outlaws were expecting turned out to be jewels of a more living kind. These treasures make a mess of the Outlaws and their camp but a mystery remains as to where they truly belong. Robins real mess becomes his own when he is captured likely to be sentenced to death. It will take at least a small effort to get Robin out of danger and small ideas.
The kids are treasures indeed 😉 “Tables Turned” finds the outlaws stuck with a problem they didn’t anticipate in what should have been a typical road ambush. In a time period where children should be seen and not heard, this show gives the children some power and even a subtle insert into the writing by Anne Rodney that stated the undervalued fight for gender equality.
Peregrinus is in Nottingham seeking out Robin Hood and has a couple of surprises for the outlaws. When the Sheriff stumbles across the Outlaws camp with an unconditional pardon, everyone becomes suspicious with the terms but the idea of a free pardon is still appealing. However, in order receive this generous offer they must be willing to fight for Prince Johns army. This calls into question the loyalty of the Outlaws and Peregrinus is watching intently to see whom the Outlaws will side with. To stop the Sheriff and Prince Johns soldiers, Robin Hood is joined by Peregrinus to fight off the tricks by Prince John, with royal consequences.
One of the coming home episodes for the mythical King Richard the Lionheart. We follow Preregrinus as he finds Robin and the crew to help thwart some evil deeds being plotted by Prince John and his men. A mildly plotted yet entertaining episode Secret Mission is one of our few looks at the elusive King Richard. Not bad and not great.
