The Protectors Season 2 Episode 8: Wam-Part 1

The Protectors_Wam pt1 Title Shot

A beautiful day in the mountains in Salzburg with a trip up the gondola to see the scenery. All while Harry is hired to check up on a clients daughter whom he thinks is getting into some trouble. Following her only adds to the mystery as her behavior does not look like a typical traveller as she heads to Salzburg. Meanwhile the gondola has come into some trouble and the authorities have been notified that this in no ordinary maintenance issue.  WAM is on.

Personal Synopsis

Part 1 of a 2 part episode, This setup episode shows a young lady obviously mixed up in something. Salzburg is her destination, which looks great, her intentions are still unknown and the Protectors appear to be stumped.  The accomplice in this episode so far has yet to be important except for his ridiculous hippy outfit but I expect that to change. The tension is growing as I wonder where this episode is going.

The Protectors Season 2 Episode 2: Bagman

The Protectors_Bagman Title Shot

The daughter of a wealthy socialite is kidnapped and held for ransom.  Madame Anderson fears for her daughters life but must not attract the polices attention, so she contacts The Protectors.  The ransom note leads the team on a chase throughout Copenhagen.  Harry poses a threat to the kidnapper so the instructions given require that only the Contessa can deliver the ransom money. Harry must find where the young kidnapped lady is before the the kidnappers loses his patience and kills her. Information from a local fisherman leads Harry and Paul to an old fort and a standoff.

Personal Synopsis

A simple episode of kidnapping and ransom. The story could have easily been expanded into a fuller and more dramatic affair. Copenhagen looks great in 1973 which is one of the highlights of this episode. All in all an easy going kidnapping that left me wanting more.

The Protectors Season 1 Episode 24: It Could Be Practically Anywhere on the Island

It Could Be Practically Anywhere On The Island Title Shot

A young American actress arrives at a Hotel when her poodle is stolen from her in the lobby.  Harry was nearby and decides to help the actress. The dog thieves have taken the dog as a carrier of some important microfilm but their own bumbling causes trouble for themselves. Harry finds the thieves but they point him in the direction of an even greater problem that Harry will have to face.

Personal Synopsis

A goofy episode directed by Robert Vaughn himself and it shows. There are some great characters in this show such as Michael Da Costa as a over the top hotel manager and Sherwood Price as a bumbling low level crook worried about his hair. The episode ends with a “were having fun” concept where everyone ends in the pool. You could miss this episode but was still fun to watch just for the laughs.

The Protectors Season 1 Episode 17: The Big Hit

The Big Hit Title Shot

When both the Contessa and Paul had each separate attempts on their lives and Harry nowhere to be found, the seriousness of these events becomes evident.  Luckily they have a hostage who may speak up about the assassination attempts but may need some incentive. Harry is holed up and could soon be convinced under duress to give up all the names of the Protectors. Harry is in trouble and there may not be enough time to get him out of this mess.

Personal Synopsis

This episode is an average take on a hit, I did particularly like the idea of the switched fencing teacher. The story in this episode is about the protectors having a hit put out on them but lacks the fear factor. The assassins were not believable.  As the story progress, I found myself wishing for more action and maybe a different cast. Sorry not too impressed.

The Protectors Season 1 Episode 12: Triple Cross

Triple Cross Title Shot

Contessa gets a call that Harry is dead, but this call was a trap to get all the Protectors.  They are kidnapped and blackmailed under the threat of a timed bomb to “help” a big wig shipping magnate. Harry and Contessa are to drive to Kofax’s estate where he proposes that Harry and Contessa help deliver some jewels to him and stave off any efforts to steal them all while Paul is under threat by the ticking bomb. The jewels are stolen because of a setup triple cross and the Protectors are going to have to find out why.

Personal Synopsis

The creepy John Neville kidnaps The Protectors in this explosive episode. The storyline was meant to send you in every direction to ultimately confuse you into believe nothing. Peter Bowles is back in another episode which does help but the story is not that concise but original.
