The Adventures of Robin Hood Season 1 Episode 14: The Betrothal

Sir Richard of the Lea has lost a duel and is not indebted to Sir Blaise. The price from his defeat is 200 gold robles but he doesn’t even have 20. So a decision must be made, Lady Leonia believes its time to marry off her son Claude to Gladys to get the dowry that would be owed. Of course its a question of whether Gladys, the young lady of marrying age, and her father actually will want the marriage to happen. Sir Richard gets the outlaws to portray important knights to show young Claudes’ strength and importance even though he is naturally a bumbler. Time is running out as Sir Blaise has come to the castle to claim his prize but the Outlaws have a trick up their sleeve but not without a fight.

Personal Synopsis

A whimsical episode of love, debt and sword fights. When Sir Richard becomes indebted he is forced to find a way to pay the debt back. Naturally by gaining a dowry from a rich merchant with a lovely young daughter. This tale comes out as a tale of a more independent and savy young lady who wishes to pick her husband and not be forced into a marriage with the “tough guy”. This episode is fun to watch as the bumbling Claude tries to hold up against Robin and the Outlaws and then the two real knights as he hold his own in his own way. Good story , good screenwriting.

The Adventures of Sir Lancelot Episode 13: The Black Castle

The Black Castle Title Shot

Sir Lancelot is mentoring a young man ,Cedric, in the ways of the knights. His betrothed’s father is taken by a fierce knight named Torwald, who lives in the Black Castle. Young love has made Cedric lose his wits and is off to fight Torwald, whom he is no match for.  Torwald’s crossbowman attempts to kill Sir Lancelot but was too slow, so Lancelot demands satisfaction. Lancelot is tricked into believing that he was fighting Torwald but it was a paid fighter. Redemption is needed, Torwald will need to prove his strength and honour as a knight. Cedric will step up to take on the challenge.

Personal Synopsis

Another episode of a gallant knight redeeming the wills of a lady. This is a fun but goofy episode that is a nice side story to the adventures of camelot. There is a funny scene when the Welshman comes into the castle with a deer on his shoulders, I’m reminded on Monty Python when I watch this episode. Hooray!!
