The Adventurer Season 1 Episode 17: Going, Going…

There is a bidding war for a Ming Dynasty vase which Gene Bradley outbids the many bidders and takes home the chinese treasure. This vase has a secret that holds greater value than its reputation as an antiquity. Gene looks like he’s playing a double game after a foreign scientist goes missing and Bradley isn’t willing to divulge any information to Mr. Parminter. The auction of the vase was a ruse concocted to instead transfer some very important scientific formulas. Bradley seeks to get his money back and to solve the mystery of the Ming Vase.

Personal Synopsis

I must admit that I will be kinder to this episode. Going, Going.. works in some ways most of the preceding episodes have not by incorporating a more complex storyline, one about a scientist who embeds his formula on a fake Ming dynasty vase, this is by far more creative. Burt Kwouk, guest appears in this episode as a Japanese goverment official and an unfortunate stereotype of asian businessmen. A good episode worth a watch.

The Adventurer Season 1 Episode 14: Full Fathom Five

An old man is dying but he holds a great secret that some felonious men wish to know. His granddaughter is now aware of this secret but must protect it from those who would take it. She holds stained glass pieces taken down from the cathedral during the war has never been returned to its rightful place. Gene Bradley and Mr. Parminter wage a battle between themselves, the granddaughter and a prospective group of “buyers” for these glass pieces.

Personal Synopsis

Episode 14 in the Adventurers, more than half way through the series and it has become noticeable that Mr Parminter is playing a more prominent role in the Adventurer. The dramas behind the scenes have become evident and luckily for us Barry Morse splendidly plays the role of Mr Parminter albeit unfitting to the tv series main setting and theme. A decent episode that appears to start the upward trend in decent scriptwriting.
