A letter arrives for Robin Hood from a Friar Tuck. Robin is asked to travel and meet the Friar, which he is happy to do. When they meet, Robin begins to play around with the Friar to “test out his swordsmanship” which Robin completely underestimated. The Friar sent the letter to Sherwood Forest for Robins help in stopping a marriage between a young lady and Sir William of Malmesbury. The only alternative is to put the knight that the young lady has been betrothed to and the man that is in love with her in a battle of swords for her hand. The Friar and Robin must act to stop any harm being done to the lovebirds.
Personal Synopsis
An introduction to Friar Tuck and the beginning of his tenure with the outlaws in Sherwood Forest. I believe the writers did a good job in connecting the association of Robin Hood and Friar Tuck all while adding a love story to boot. Alexander Gauge plays the stern portly Friar Tuck who still has a heart of gold. Alexander plays Friar Tuck so wonderfully that I imagine he is the stereotype for the character even today.
