Some Chinese officials are in London to oversee a contemporary art exhibit when one of the officials is kidnapped. Now the Chinese government is demanding the release of the kidnapped official, but the sentiment towards Chinese throughout the UK is complicated at best. There are UK citizens that have been kidnapped by the government in China and only a few have been released. The Chinese government is weighing down pressure to find this rogue kidnapper and release the prisoner back to them. Strange is asked to be an intermediary investigator by the Chinese government. The kidnapper is a released prisoner who was tortured by the hands of his Chinese captors and is mentally capable of killing his prisoner to right the wrongs that was done to him. The treatment he received served as the fuel to force his views on the hypocrisy of the Peoples Republic of China’s rhetoric. Strange and the crew need to get to the kidnapper before he goes too far and creates an international incident.
Personal Synopsis
A great story of a man who received horrible treatment by the Chinese and could not live without the influence of that experience in his everyday life. It is unfortunate that people treat each other so without any concern of what becomes of the person who is treated so badly. This episode does have racist leanings but still hits the intriguing story of a man suffering from PTSD (if not actually identified). I enjoyed this story and was interested throughout the whole episode. I think this story is an interesting “real life” story to even todays Foreign relations in which we should have a fuller understanding of the wrongs all of our countries have to done to others.
